North Salem- Buell O. Jeffries, 82, of Rt 1, North Salem, died Monday evenig. He was a lifelong farmer in the North Salem area. He was a member and elder of the North Salem Christian Church He was a graduate of North Salem High School and attended Wabash College. Mr. Jeffries was a 50 years member of the North Salem Order of the Eastern Star, North Salem Masonic Lodge and North Salem American Legion. He was a member of Scottish Rite, Knight's Templar at Lebanon, Murat Temple and Senior Citizen's Club. He served in World War I. Born Dec. 14, 1893, he was a son of Oscar H. and Nannie Jeffries of New Ross. He was married to Irmin G. Long in August 1917. She preceded him in death in 1969. Survivors are four sisters, Loyce Akers and Catherine DeVol both of Lebanon, Juanita Wills of Zionsville and Inas Sluss of Indianapolis; a niece, Mrs. Hugh B. Risk of Jamestown and several other nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Porter Funeral Home at North Salem with the Rev. Earl Davis officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at North Salem. The Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home. The Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion.
